Puppy update

I have had many inquiries this week and I think Benz may have a tentative home. I will know for sure after this weekend (10/20-21/12). Also, I have decided to hold on to Ferrari until Liz and I can evaluate the girls. I will know on Oct 29th if I have a girl available. Please check back then! As it stands now we have been rethinking our plans for a spring, 2013 litter and tentatively it will be "Khaos", CH Treasuretyme Eclectic Alchemy DNA-VP X "Wicked" Legends StarN Devilinabludress DNA-VP. Both can be seen on our web site. All colors are possible. Puppies should be smart, fast learners and very agile. We will be taking a waiting list after the breeding occurs. If you are interested you may contact us and we will keep you informed as it gets closer to the time. janine

Available Puppies

Yep, Believe it or not I have actually found a few minutes to update the blog! Taking care of 6 puppies really keeps one hopping, not to mention the adult dogs too. It is a balancing act between dogs, work and trying to get the house/farm ready for winter and not having Liz here makes a big difference. I have had a lot of inquiries in the last couple days about available puppies so here is an update. I have Benz (boy) and Ferrari (girl) available. Both puppies have beautiful structure and movement! Benz is really biddable, outgoing and friendly. He would fit into just about any lifestyle, as long as you exercise his brain along with his body.. he is a very smart boy! This is "Benz"....
Ferrari is a little more reserved than Benz, but very sweet. She is very playful and can be a little naughty as she would rather play than come in the house and doesn't understand why she has to go to bed!
Ferrari will actually go, go , go, until she runs out of steam...and then it's lights out!
If you are interested in either Benz or Ferrari, please contact me! janine

Puppies @ 8 weeks!

Good news!!! Yes, I finally have puppy pictures!!! A big Thank You to Mandi Juarez who is mom to the puppies 1/2 sister "Fever"( CH Arcoiris Hot Hot Heat!RNX DNA-VP) for photographing them. She did such an awesome job, every picture we take from here on in will pale in comparison!
Well, it seems now would be a good time to go to the photos, but I think I will make you wait and take a few minutes of your time to talk about the puppies week...and what a big week for them!
Who says one person can't vaccinate 9 puppies by themselves?? Yes, I did it. I guess being a nurse doesn't hurt and I am very comfortable with a syringe in my hand, but my patients are not wiggling all over..these guys are extreme wiggle butts! None the less I was able to accomplish the mission, not one peep, cry, squeal or protest from a puppy was heard and they all received their first 5 way Distemper/parvo combination shot. This was the first time we waited so long to give vaccines. We usually start at 6 weeks, but the more I read and research, the less I want to give them. I do know they are a necessary evil for the first few years of a dogs life..but I am not convinced they are so necessary past a certain age...but that is another subject and an often heated debate.
The puppies showed no ill effects from their shots and on Saturday afternoon I packed them all up and took them to Josicha's Planet Canine http://planet-canine.com/ for the temperament testing. Pam who owns Planet Canine along with her husband Rich, always does a great job conducting and evaluating our puppy temperament testing.  The puppies did awesome and we have more potential little show and performance stars as well as great companion prospects! With the results of the testing and 10 weeks closely approaching we are now able to offer puppies to homes...so if you are interested in a certain puppy, please contact me at marehaven@netzero.net and I will be happy to send you a puppy questionnaire. Also, starting this year, Liz is attending school at the University of Georgia. She will be up for Labor Day weekend and may be able to bring a puppy down to the Atlanta area to avoid shipping.

To the left is Bugatti, aren't you glad he isn't available! Fastest water bowl emptier in the Midwest!

So without further delay...on to the head shots and stacked photos!!!

Evaluating structure and movement is always done best at 8 weeks. So far the combination of CH Ryder and  CH Phoenix has proven to be everything we hoped for. Rears are looking really strong and fronts are coming along as well. Puppies are little trotting maniacs and now the job of leashing breaking begins. I will start with puppy collars with pull tabs on half of them and then after a while switch so the other puppies have the collars and tabs. We have found that usually after repeating this once, along with a little coaxing on the leash, puppies are more than ready to go with us off to the next great adventure!
Plans for the week- puppies will be at the ASC of MI Labor Day Show  http://www.ascofmichigan.com/ to hang  out and meet new people! Tentative schedule will be to have two groups of puppies one on Saturday and one on Sunday, 4 & 5 in each group so they can get optimal attention!! Please come and visit us!!!
Until after the show,
janine

Puppy update!

Well the puppies are now 7 weeks old. I am having a hard time getting any pictures up since Liz is not here. This is a little harder than I thought it would be, but I am going to tap the resources of my sister and friends this week.
This is the age where all the fun begins. The puppies now have supervised run of part of the house for play time. They are investigating everything and getting into trouble every other minute! Try walking across the room with no less than 7 puppies somehow attached to one pant leg...ouch! Every once in a while one of them actually tries to grab my leg!
Some of the puppies are more "electric" than others...those are the ones that absolutely won't hold still and instead of being wiggle butts they are wiggle bodies. Beemer is the most electric puppy I have ever seen...I swear his whole body vibrates with the wiggles as he greets me. Since he is also the smallest, I told Liz I think he would make a great bumble bee for Halloween! Since he is available, maybe I will suggest it to whom ever his new owners will be :-).
The puppies had their first session with a tug (not counting my pants) and after that I saw all of them tugging on a latex donut toy! It's pretty hard to go anywhere when they are all in a circle pulling backwards...it was too funny!
I am defiantly starting to see little personalities and I am also falling in love with a puppy I shouldn't..of course.
Puppies are eating really good and I have added a little cottage cheese and canned food into their yogurt, kibble and Ester-C. They had decided it would be more fun to play with me, than eat...so I decided to make their food irresistible! This is exactly the temperament of Phoenix's other litters...wanting to be with people more than anything...well, what should we expect from a mom who tries to kiss everyone she meets? I remember the first time we took Phoenix to a really big AKC show with about 2,000 entries....she tried to jump on every person we passed! She made dozens of new friends...it was like she thought they were all there for her! I am sure she was thinking "It's this grand!"
Speaking of Phoenix, she is being a good mom and slowly weaning them herself. She spends several hours a day playing and teaching them. Occasionally, I hear her give a stern reprimand, but I know it is part of the learning process and she will only give them what they need.
I am just starting to see a little gaiting ...mostly they are still in the hopping stage, but I know that will quickly change over the next week. This Saturday, the 25th, the puppies will be going to Joshica's Planet Canine http://planet-canine.com/ for temperament testing. Pam will be doing the testing at 11am and anyone is welcome to come and watch. Puppies usually get a good play session at the end so it's fun for them and us humans too!
until next week,
janine

Tip and Dash update!

Yes, we are happy to say that Tip and Dash both have new homes...yes, we both thought they would stay with us, but sometimes you are just holding on to them until they find their forever home. It amazed both of us, because we heard from both homes within the same day and at that point we really had planned on keeping both boys. I was very surprised when Liz told me she was letting Dash go...probably just as surprised as she was, when I told her that I was letting Tip go...but both homes were just so right for each.

I took Dash a couple weeks ago to meet his new family....and when you see a grown man kiss a puppy on the head when he meets him it melts your heart. I immediately knew that Dash would be loved, spoiled and pampered. They had lost one of their golden retrievers this past year to kidney failure and now felt they were ready to bring another dog into their lives. Dash's name is now Kramer (it suits him so well) and he lives in Evanston, Illinois with the John Tsingas family along with Charlie their 4 yr old Golden Retriever. Kramer and Charlie are quickly becoming best friends!

Charlie and Kramer

Tip went this past Sunday to a special girl. Her name is Brienne and she recently lost her very special 7 yr old black tri Aussie, Torro to Hemangio sarcoma. Torro and Brie did everything together and competed successfully in 4-h.

Torro and Brienne
We extend our sympathy for Brie's loss and hope Tip will help your heart heal.

See what I mean about keeping them until "the meant to be forever home" comes along?

Ryder and Phoenix puppies 4.5 weeks

Phoenix's puppies are now 4 1/2 weeks old. They are busy playing with each other and toys! They are discovering their voices and we hear little puppy growls and the occasional loud puppy bark! They are steady on their feet and some are super fast movers...so we had some trouble with pictures. As usual at this age they are still not sure about treats...I expect in another week they will be crazy for cheese and "cookies".  We had a bit of trouble with camera malfunction this week so a few pictures are not as clear as we had hoped. Liz leaves for Georgia and back to school this weekend so future pictures will mostly be free moving, candid shots. I hope to have some help in a couple weeks and we will try for stacked ones again.
We are beginning to get ideas about what we will have available for homes, but as always, we like to wait until Temperament testing is done. We will be taking names and deposits now however and for those who live down south, Liz will be back around labor Day and can bring a puppy down to the Atlanta area...we are very happy to have that new option to avoid shipping if possible!
Well enough rambling, I am sure you are all looking for pictures! Here they are in boy/girl order :-)

"Beemer"

Beemer is a small blue merle boy who has lots of attitude!

"Beemer"

"Ferrari"
Ferrari is very sweet black tri bitch. She is on the smaller side, like Beemer!

"Jag"

"Jag"

Jag, is a Sweet blue tri boy who likes to cuddle. He actually liked his treat!

"Mercedes"

"Mercedes"

Mercedes is a black tri female who I have a feeling will keep her owner on their toes!

"Bugatti"

"Bugatti"

To be very honest I knew when I saw Phoenix give birth to this black tri boy, that he would quickly steal Liz's heart....Do you think being a split face has anything to do with it??? I am putting my 2 cents in saying that he will be the most likely to stay at Arcoiris!

"Carrera"

"Carrera"

Carrera is a very cute blue merle girl who is getting lots of merling specks on her face. She also liked her treat. I think she will work well for food!

"Benz"

"Benz"

Benz is a black tri boy. Mercedes and his name came about as when they were first born, I kept having to check which was the boy and which was the girl. They looked so much alike! He is quite the cutie!

"Hummer"

"Hummer"

Some dogs just own their names...yes, he is a big guy! Hummer is a blue merle boy who is very social! He comes running to visit...he reminds me the most of Phoenix...as she can be almost obnoxious (in a good way) at how much she loves people!

Okay, to be fair they all come running...but he usually pushes to the front...

"Bentley"

"Bentley"

Bentley is a lovey black tri who loves his treats! He is a sweetheart!
I promised a stacked picture of him...sorry it is slightly out of focus!

Puppies, Puppies and Primo!

First off, I have returned after a very short 10 day vacation visiting my mother. You would think I would return all refreshed, but 10 days is just not long enough, especially when you spend so much of it driving! Anyway I came home to find the puppies running around...well yes, literally! It seems that Phoenix has taken to letting Kwill's older puppies out of their crates at night or when anyone is gone for an extended period of time...so snaps are now enforce on all puppy crates! Twist, Dash and Tip are all 3 doing great...Dash and Tip are still available, but may have more training while waiting for their forever homes. I will sign Tip up for beginning obedience classes this fall if he is still here and I am sure that Liz will be working hard on Dash as he heads south with her to school. (She can deliver puppies to homes in the south, near Atlanta instead of having to fly them!). The 3 Kwill puppies are getting lanky and look like little skunks as the adult hair grows in on their backs...they are oh, so shiny!
Primo the afghan is now an official alien/ Aussie brother and thinks he is just one of Kwill puppies too...however Kwill thinks he is very strange looking and refuses to lay actual claim to him!

Phoenix's puppies are getting big! They are eating and walking all over...they come running when they see us! Two of them, "Beemer" the blue boy and "Ferrari" are smaller than the rest, which makes us wonder if they aren't a day or two behind the way the breeding was spaced out. Time will tell and if so they will catch up in no time...it's hard not to fall in love with all the puppies, they are very social.. and I think they are the best eaters we have ever had! They are getting ground food, yogurt and water. They are also drinking water this week! Phoenix has taken to standing to do her day nursing, but still lays down with them at night. They are beginning puppy play...I still love hearing those little barks and growls!

We will have puppies available from Phoenix's litter to show homes and pet homes. Please contact either myself (marehaven@netzero.net) or Liz (aussieslb@msn.com) for more information on puppies.
Next week pictures!!! puppies will be wormed this weekend for the 2nd time and we are booking the temperament testing as well as cerf eye exam appointments for them.

Ryder and Phoenix Puppies!

Just had a sanity check, yes, we did do two litters this year! We are still busy with 3 of Kwill's babies, Tip, Dash and Twist. Dash and Tip would both like to find nice homes, but meanwhile they are learning manners and playing with Primo, the Afghan puppy. Every once in a while they pause from their play when they hear the sounds of puppies in the adjoining room and run to the gate to see if they can catch a glimpse of their new cousins. But no one has really seen these babies except me and Liz when she came home last week until now....so without further ado, we would like to introduce our new
