We have had a very busy week!! The pups have been able to chill out and play...while we have been running almost nonstop....plus factor in all the time we have to get in for puppy socialization and play...even when it is midnight or 6am and you are very tired... the pups must play!!
The puppies all made a trip to the dog show this weekend and they met and made many new friends! We did well at the show with Spell going Winners Bitch for 2 majors out of the Bred By Class and a Reserve Winners Bitch. Fever went Best Of Opposite Sex at two of the shows. Also in the Altered Breed Ring, Chant took home a Winners Dog plus a couple reserves! In the Rally Ring, Seorus, (owned and trained by Linda Butterworth) finished his Rally Excellent Legs going High In Trial, High In Trial Aussie! Three of Liz's obedience students also took home some placements and Rally titles! Congratulations to Beth & Izzie, Kim & Rookie and Lacey with Lola and Jackson!!
To Update on the puppies!!!
Flip, has gone home to live with Beth (who also has Izzie). She is now known as "Miss Flip" and is enjoying her new home. Beth has quickly learned that these puppies are super confident and there is no obstacle too big....10 steps...no problem, out side through the door with the big dogs? No problem...I said if you think she can't do it...she will be able to! She is keeping Beth on her toes and a smile on Beth's face! She looks forward to some Obedience and Rally in her future!
Zip, Is now "Falkor", Arcoiris Never Ending Story! He has gone home with Linda Butterworth to join her crew and be a future star in the Obedience, Rally, Agility and maybe even the Breed Ring! Linda will keep him on his toes as she is an excellent dedicated trainer who does really amazing things with all her dogs!
Snap, now "Nova" is settling in nicely in her new home. She is giving Kelly's Sheba Enu a run for hr money and by the looks of the video and photo, they are now best buddies!! If I can figure out how to transfer them from my phone...I will put them up.
Zoom will be leaving Friday for his new home with Lacey (Lola and Jackson)!! We are very pleased and excited to see him go to such a great home, as all the puppies have. We look forward to seeing him in Obedience, Rally, the Breed ring and maybe even Agility (no Pressure Lacey! LOL!).
Dip is going to Sarah in Florida! She will be excelling (we know:-)) in Agility in the future and keeping Sarah and her family on their toes...she is very bright and drivey!! She is also a very funny girl! She will be leaving us in about 3 weeks after her mom returns from CPE Nationals!
Tip is available to a performance/ active home. He is very smart, biddable, drivey, sweet and lovable!
Dash is available. He is smart, loving and very correct. He is also a little quieter, but being an Aussie we all know that still means smart and busy! He reminds us of a little "Khaos" in black, his Grandfather.
Twist is staying here at Arcoiris. She is now "Arcoiris UnExpected Twist". Please look for her in the breed ring in the fall/winter.
Anyone who is interested in Tip Or Dash, please contact me by email marehaven@netzero.net
We are hoping for pictures outside this week! Second vaccines next week

Quick puppy update!
Today all puppies made the 2 hour drive to the Cerf clinic at the Greentown, Indiana show, hosted by the Kokomo Kennel Club. Eye checks were done by Board Certified Ophthalmologist, Dr. Wendy Townsend, School Of Veterinary Medicine, Purdue University.
I am pleased to report that all puppies were clear!
The journey was uneventful and they had a nice longer crate ride than they did to the Temperament testing last week. We did say goodbye to "Snap", who is now "Nova/Cutie". Her new family met us at the clinic and since we were letting puppies go home next weekend, we decided to let them take her home, rather than have them make the even longer drive to pick her up next weekend. It was a pleasure to finally meet Kelly and her husband Mark. They have 2 young sons and Nova was an instant hit!
"Arcoiris Gypsy Girl Nova" |
Parting with the puppies can be a difficult time for us, as well as the puppies. It was nice to see how Nova was just as content to be in Kelly's arms as she always has been in ours. That made it a lot easier. We try very hard to make sure the right puppy goes home with the right new mom and dad and we think Nova is now going to be a very spoiled, loved little girl! We look forward to many years of stories and updates!

Remy and Kwill puppies 7 weeks
This has been one of the busiest weeks for the puppies yet. First off, Kwill has just about completely weaned them. They are eating 2 meals a day with yogurt and then free choice dry kibble at all times. They are all gaining weight, playing at every opportunity ... yes, we are awakened by the pitter patter of tiny feet and puppy growls at 5 am :-)! The bunny hopping is all gone and we have some nice moving puppies!
The week began with first vaccines, moved on to puppy temperament testing and ended with a romp out in the sheep pen!
Sheep? I knew I smelled something.....
|
I smell them too! |
Puppy testing went well and all puppies tested just about how we thought they would. They enjoyed meeting all their new friends and the time they spent playing afterward. They ran all over the matted area at the Planet canine in Elkhart. They were quite bold and soon began to investigate every corner.
At this point they were all happy to come bounding back when called, not yet wanting to cut the apron strings.....
They were very impressive ...all 8 running back to us ........
The next day we went outside.......
and played...........
and then it began to happen......the fence has puppy portals.....
and we began to notice escapees..............
And we tried to call them back......... but they ran in the opposite direction.......
Our well behaved puppies had turned into independent little brats over night....
over confident...they continued to explore
Suddenly they started to pop back through the portals....
the sheep are coming and they are huge!! |
Then Zip and Tip sounded the alarm.......
Yep....yeah gotta watch out for those sheep....the large ones will get you every time........
Misty & Tat (my 22 yr old Tennessee Walkers) |
The "large sheep"
So we quickly corralled the puppies and decided it was time for a little one on one.... Enjoy!!!!
Zip- Not available thinks he is going to impress the heck out of Linda! |
Dash (available) Black Tri Boy |
Zoom (available) Blue eyed blue merle boy |
Nova (was Snap) going to live with her new family in Indianapolis! |
Flip going to her new Mom, Beth in Elkhart! |
Dip (awaiting her forever name) going to her new Mom, Sarah in Florida next month! |
Tip (available) Black tri Male looking for a performance home |
Twist staying at Arcoiris! |
One last one...just because she is so darn cute!!!!

Kwill X Remy Puppies 6 weeks old
The pups are now 6 weeks old. They started out the week like little bunny rabbits hoping here and there...well, maybe more like Jack Rabbits...because they can hop about 90 miles an hour! The weather has not allowed them to be outside so they have become "free range puppies" roaming the living room, dining room and kitchen 3-4 times a day. They run back to their pen to potty in the newspaper/cedar chips and then scamper back checking everything out as they go. "Checking everything out" mainly consists of putting everything they can see into their mouths...much like a toddler. Ouch...no you can't eat toes! All electrical cords up and out of the way....the place looks pretty safe! Bailey the cocker looks like fair game to them as he is loaded with tugable coat and ears! Bailey is pretty quick on his feet and up on his perch (the back of the couch) far from inquisitive mouths and sharp teeth.
This week the pups took on tug toys and adult size squeakies! Tip was carrying a soft cloth ball with nubbies that looked bigger than him. He just lifted his head as high as he could and off he went! The tugs get take most of the damage as they pull against each other, killing and shaking the ends of the tug. All puppies excel at this!
Kwill has begun to discipline the puppies and also wean them. She has taken toys away from them and given "growlies" to them when they try to take them from her....after a few minutes she lets them have the toy and then goes and finds another one and another puppy. She also has a soft heart and allows them to play tug a war with the hair around her face! She has them on a feeding routine and has taken away any extra milk bar privileges. When they try to nurse when it's not time she corrects them. She wants to control when they eat and only lets them nurse about 3 times a day. She is still with them about 75% of their day, but sleeping separate at night. She is also showing them how to problem solve. One time, when I opened their pen, several of them were still at the front of the pen asking to get out. They didn't realize the gate on the side was open. Kwill walked back and forth, in and out until they all followed her out the side. I think it took her 4 trips to get them to all follow her.
Some of the other dogs have begun to spend time with the puppies. Auntie Spell and Uncle Drum have both been gently playing with them. Spell gets a little frustrated when I won't let her take all the puppy toys away to her hiding place, but she doesn't seem to mind when Dip or Zip declare them selves king of the mountain as they try to scale her back and shoulders....sliding quickly down hill like sleders on a slippery slope! Drum will lay and play whom ever is attacking him and his is very gentle. I even caught cousin Muffet trying to clean puppies ears...not that they needed it. Kwill still keeps those puppies spic n span!
As the week moves forward day by day the puppies are all increasing the amount of time they spend trotting and do less and less bunny hopping. We are seeing some very good coming and going and beginnings of some nice balanced side gait. The plans for the next few days are to get the puppies outside on the "play ground", get their first shots, additional worming and end the week with temperament testing! We should have a report this time next week, but in the mean time please check back as we will get 6 week old pictures taken as soon as the weather breaks.
One final note, we have had several inquiries as to what puppies are available. All the girls are spoken for and so is Zip. We have Zoom, Tip and Dash all available.
Tip would love to go to a performance home and maybe to be shown in the breed ring if someone choose to. His structure and movement are very nice. He is just a smaller package! Of course, I pointed out before that means nothing. His Grandfather Khaos was also small as a puppy and he turned out to be of nice, moderate size.
Zoom is a blue eyed, blue merle boy and is super loving, very playful with good drive, but a nice off switch. He is very middle of the pack, flashy and would make a very nice addition to the right family.
Lastly, Dash is available to a show home... he has very nice movement and lovely structure! He would also make a very nice JR's dog for someone who wants to start a dog from the beginning.

Remy X Kwill puppies 5 weeks old
Are you sure we have to get up?? Dip (blue merle girl) reserved/not available |
Dip |
Yes, cheese can tame even the most agile beast!!!!
And turn them into little adoring, cute stacking machines.......
More Dip |
okay, not quite...but it is powerful stuff!
The problem with stacking puppies with cheese or any other bait is too low and they dive for it........
Dippity Do! (If you remember Dippity Do...you must be a baby boomer!) |
Too high and they do an automatic sit....and you just thought they were exceptionally smart puppies.............well of course they are!!!
Dip is a blue version of her mother!
Now for the rest of the crew.......
Tip (Black Tri Male) Available |
Tipper |
Tippman! |
Tip is a very active, loving puppy. He is the smallest of the boys, but he is very sassy and agile. He is available and would be very happy in a performance home!
We're Gonna Zoom, Zoom, Zooma, Zoom!
Zoom
(Blue merle boy) Available
|
Zoom! |
Zoom is also an active boy. He is very loving and sweet, but also loves his toys! He is very fond of the furry stuffed ones.
Update!! Due to unforseen circumstances, Zoom is available! Please contact Janine or Liz about Zoom or one of the other boys who are available.
Update!! Due to unforseen circumstances, Zoom is available! Please contact Janine or Liz about Zoom or one of the other boys who are available.
Got Zoom?! |
Dash (Black Tri Boy) Available |
Dash is a more reflective puppy. He is active, but seems to like to watch his surroundings. His Great Grandfather, Kody was like this too. I think they learn by observation...then look out!! Dash is available.
Dash |
Dashingly Handsome! |
Twist (Red merle girl) |
Twist's best stacking picture |
Twist |
Let's Twist Again! |
What can I say about Twist....she's not for the faint of heart! LOL....she is going to give her owner a run for her money... she is definitely her own girl...What I can say is ....she is not available!
Zip (Blue merle Boy) |
As you can tell from the following stacked pictures of Zip, he doesn't stay still too much.....
Yep That's Zip, aptly named....Zip here, Zip there....
Zip right out of your arms....pivots on his rear and back again to you!
Zip is reserved/ Not available at this time!
Zippity Do Dah! |
Zippity Yeah! |
Zip reminds us the most of his dad, Remy!
Snap! (Blue merle girl) Not available |
Snap |
Snap to it!! |
I don't have a lot to say about Snap...at least Liz told me not to say it...but here it is...cats out of the bag....Snap reminds both of us of Kwill's mother Baby... and we don't need to say any more!
Which leaves us to the elusive Flip.......
Now those of you who are fans of Flip have expressed some concern over her disapearance....or shall I say lack of appearance in the last blog posting...what can I say about a girl who plays in her water dish??? Here she is mostly dry this time!!!
Ms Flip! (Red merle girl) |
Flip...part Dromedary or just wet??? |
So after taking about 6 pictures I asked Liz what was wrong with her coat...she looks like a dromedary one hump!...oh...that's the water that is making her coat stand up on her back......
Flip with her coat fixed...no humps here! |
Flip-o licious! |
Yep....she loves cheese...which brings me back to the begining...and ready for round two next week. Hopefuly we will get a break in the rain and they will get out to play!!!
Milestones this past week...puppies wormed again. All got a chance to explore the house individually and play "slap the cocker" courtesey of Liz. We got to see the beginings of their gaiting...fronts are looking good! New toys, latex squeakies, furry squeakies and antler chews...our teeth are sharp!! Vacuum cleaner 202. Introduction to dry food, available at all times and added to the moist. Introduction to puppy biscuits 101. Next week philosophy of dogma and Begining Agility for puppies! What fun!
